Says no to any early election hypothesis that is "irresponsible." He defends his allies Salvini and Meloni

but does not entrust the role of leader of the right to anyone

: "They both have strong profiles. We will find the best solution." He reaffirms that Forza Italia represents him and only him, assures that his orders "are not questioned by anyone" in his party.

Silvio Berlusconi has returned to the pitch

and today what "makes him feel happy is the idea of being able to do something for Italy". "In a Europe still wounded by Brexit, and that with the departure of Angela Merkel loses a great reference, our country can and must play an important role," says

Question.-

How do you feel after your acquittal in the Siena trial, where it was judged whether you bought the silence of witnesses so that they would not testify against you in the case of the festivities 10 years ago?

Answer.-

What I have been saying for some time is confirmed: serious, honest and competent magistrates are the majority.

Now I can only hope that the Siena judgment is confirmed in the other open trials, which are based on the same absurd argument.

Q.-

Giorgia Meloni is at the center of the controversy due to the proximity of his party, the Brothers of Italy, with neo-fascist circles.

Do you think that closeness can affect your group as well?

A.-

Giorgia Meloni does not need guarantors.

If the Brothers of Italy were not a great democratic party, we would not be their allies.

Europe knows, and it was confirmed to me these days in Brussels, that it can count on us to form an Italy integrated into the values and norms on which the European Union is founded.

Q.-

In your party there are some who question these alliances ...

R.-

In truth, I have not heard anyone in Forza Italia discuss our political line, which is to work for the country, strongly support the Draghi Government and do everything necessary, perhaps even some sacrifices, so that the country is united in these difficult months.

We do it as a center-right force that has a different profile than our allies.

Q.-

So where does the internal discontent in your party come from?

R.-

They are personal misunderstandings, to be resolved, not political line conflicts. I sincerely say this with esteem and affection to the friends who have collaborated with me for many years: I would prefer not to read controversial news in the newspapers that do not represent us and that I do not think are of interest to Italians. We have other problems to tackle, we are struggling to get out of the most serious post-war crisis and relapses are just around the corner. Europe and the world are going through a very difficult and delicate time. We must equip ourselves to face new planetary challenges, starting with the Chinese, which concerns us directly. They are ideological, geopolitical, economic and military challenges. Challenges in raw materials, technology, the energy we use daily, the environment and the ecological transition.Italy chairs the G20 and, in partnership with the UK, will play a central role at COP26. We have to take care of these things.

Q.-

Does it exclude supporting an electoral advance and changing the law?

R.-

This Government is taking Italy out of the health and economic emergency.

It is a difficult job that progresses with good results thanks to the sense of responsibility of all the political forces.

It would be irresponsible to think of interrupting him prematurely for an early election.

For the same reason, talking about electoral law now means circulating poison, while Italy hopes that politics will deal with vaccines, taxes, pensions, welfare and the safety of Italians.

Q.-

What is your political objective today, in the short and long term?

A.-

Keeping the country united, in a close relationship with Europe, in order to start over: we must make sure that our children and grandchildren can live better than us, just as our parents and grandparents guaranteed.

Today, for the first time in centuries, this is not taken for granted.
