Today, Saturday, the Taliban government announced that the process of forming a new Afghan army has begun.

While making pledges to protect sovereignty and borders and combat terrorism, the authorities in Kabul received economic promises from Iran.

Afghan Acting Defense Minister Mullah Muhammad Yaqoub Mujahid said Afghanistan's territory and airspace would not be used against others.

The minister revealed that the process of forming a strong army that would defend Afghanistan's land and sovereignty has already begun, adding that the government plans to provide the Afghan army with advanced and modern weapons.

It is noteworthy that the Taliban took control of power at the end of last August, and later announced the formation of an interim government, and pledged to protect people and property.

But the authorities are exposed to bloody attacks, which are often claimed by the Islamic State.

The Minister of Defense's statements regarding the formation of a strong army coincided with the killing of 4 members of the Taliban security forces, in an explosion in Nangarhar province, eastern Afghanistan.

The Islamic State claimed responsibility for an explosion that targeted a main tower, which led to a power outage in Kabul and several Afghan provinces since last Thursday.

The organization said that its militants detonated an explosive device on an electricity pole in the Shakardara district of Kabul province, which led to a power outage.

This is the first attack by the organization on an electricity pole since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan last August.

In the same context, the Afghan Defense Minister stressed that the authorities will not allow anyone to interfere in Afghanistan's internal affairs, and will maintain security on the common borders with neighbors.

On another matter, Afghan Foreign Ministry spokesman Abdul Qahar Balkhi quoted the Iranian ambassador in Kabul Bahadur Aminian Jazi as saying that economic problems are the common enemy of the two countries.

The Afghan Foreign Ministry spokesman added that the Iranian ambassador, during his meeting with the acting Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaki, reiterated Iran's readiness to assist Afghanistan in the fields of energy, transport, mining, trade and health.
