Hu, 24, clinched two titles on Sunday, on high bar and parallel bars.
But it was his performance on the high bar that was the most anticipated, because this final, the last of the 2021 Worlds, pitted the Chinese, Hashimoto and the legendary Kohei Uchimura.
Hu won with a score of 15.166 points, a tenth of a point more than Hashimoto, reigning Olympic champion in the specialty and all-around (15.066 pts) while Uchimura had to settle for 6th place (14.600 pts).
Long king of gymnastics with his two Olympic titles (2012 and 2016) and his six consecutive world crowns in the all-around (2009-2015), Uchimura, 32, had missed out on his Tokyo Olympics which he had tackled hurt.
Despite this new competition without a medal, Uchimura does not seem decided to hang up: "I cannot yet comment on the end of my career, I need to take a rest and make a point," he said. Explain.
"The day I spent today allowed me to measure again how much I love the gym, how much this sport still interests me, I don't feel the urge to stop", insisted the one who is considered the best gymnast in history.

Russian Angelina Melnikova, crowned world all-around champion on Thursday, clinched silver on floor after finishing a disappointing 8th place on beam.
The other gymnast in sight during these Worlds, the Brazilian Rebeca Andrade, who confirmed her Olympic title in vault with a world crown on Saturday, placed 6th on the beam.
