According to the China Earthquake Network, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake occurred in Yilan County, Taiwan (24.55 degrees north latitude, 121.80 degrees east longitude) at 13:11 on October 24, with a focal depth of 60 kilometers.

The epicenter was located on the island, 61 kilometers from downtown Taipei.

The earthquake caused strong tremors across the island of Taiwan, and the earthquakes in Xiamen, Fuzhou, Quanzhou, and Putian in Fujian were obvious.
