Just six weeks after the end of the summer holidays, start this Saturday for 15 days of school holidays.

On the roads as in the trains, many French people take advantage of All Saints' Day to escape.

Vacationers are even more numerous than last year.

REPORTING

The lucky ones took the road to vacation today. On the Limours-Janvry area in the Paris region, the car park is almost full on this first day of All Saints holidays, as are the picnic tables. "Little coffee, little break, and we start again," says Hervé, installed on one of them with his friends. On the way to Brittany "to take advantage of the air, and if it rains too much, we will play cards". He is not used to leaving on All Saints' Day, and he is not the only one.

It is even a great first for Khadija, seated a bit far away.

"I think that with the Covid and the last two years which have been a bit complicated, we want to enjoy every moment even more," she explains.

This excursion allows his family to discover the Arcachon basin.

"We have never been to the Pyla dune" assures one of his children.

For Khadija, a goal: "Burn beautiful moments in our memories."

Trains run despite the strike

These two weeks of vacation concern all areas of France. Léo has decided to take his bike to the Sarthe, his aunt tries to put it in the back seat "because in the countryside you can cycle, it's better than in town". They will arrive two hours later at their vacation spot, in almost summer temperatures.

On the train side, if the TGV Atlantique drivers are on strike until Monday, eight out of ten trains are running this weekend.

Enough to allow holidaymakers to travel to the west of the country from Montparnasse station.

"I'm going to Brittany with my family, to take in the sea air and especially the spray" explains one of them.

Direction La Baule for a group of 15 people, "to go visit friends".

Some kids can't wait to go, "I could play games, and if it's hot I could go to the beach."

This young girl even has a plan B if the weather turns bad: "I could stay home and watch cartoons."
