The decision to lock the public toilets is made for security reasons.

According to the municipality's security department, you receive weekly reports of crimes committed in and around the toilets.

"This is a security-creating measure," says Christina Lundin, who is the coordinator for crime prevention issues.

Measures such as frequent cleaning, temporary closure of certain toilets, camera surveillance and security patrols at night, have already been put in place.

The decision to lock the toilets applies until the municipality finds long-term solutions to the situation in the public toilets, a work that is now underway.

The toilets may be kept open in connection with special events.
