The Saudi-Emirati coalition in Yemen promised the Houthi group a broad response to the targeting of what it called civilian objects and infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, while the group reported the killing and wounding of Saudi officers and soldiers in the targeting of the Forces of Duty camp in the Saudi city of Jazan yesterday, Wednesday.
The official spokesman for the coalition, Brigadier Turki Al-Maliki, warned that his country would strike with an iron fist if these attacks continued, and said that the Houthis should prepare for the broader and more comprehensive strikes in accordance with international humanitarian law, according to him.
Al-Maliki added that the raids carried out by the coalition today in Sana'a came in response to the threat and deterring the targeting of civilians, as he put it.
The Saudi TV also quoted the coalition that the operation came to deter the targeting of civilians, and to neutralize the threat of imminent attacks on civilian facilities in the Kingdom, stressing that it exercised the highest levels of restraint in the face of Houthi violations during the last period.
Houthi media reported that one person was killed and 3 others wounded in raids launched by coalition warplanes targeting the "Engineers' Corps Camp" in the Sawan area, east of the capital, Sana'a.
The Houthi Ministry of Health condemned the coalition's bombing of what it called stores of medicines and medical supplies in the Sawan area.
5 missiles on Jizan
On the other hand, the military spokesman for the Houthi group, Yahya Saree, said that they targeted the Wajib Forces camp in the Saudi city of Jizan yesterday, Wednesday, with 5 ballistic missiles.
The spokesman stated that the operation resulted in the killing and wounding of more than 35 Saudis, including officers and pilots, he says.
On the other hand, British Foreign and Development Secretary Liz Trace said that the solution to the crisis in Yemen is a political solution, expressing - in an interview with Al Jazeera - her country's concern about what innocent civilians are being exposed to there.
The Houthis used to launch ballistic missiles and drones at Saudi areas, in return for repeated declarations by the coalition to thwart these attacks, while some of them left civilian casualties.
For the seventh year, Yemen is witnessing a war between the pro-government forces backed by the coalition, and the Houthi militias who have controlled governorates including Sanaa since September 2014.
