According to RIA Novosti with reference to Peskov, Medvedchuk did not apply with a corresponding statement.
The presidential press secretary noted that without an appeal, Moscow cannot grant citizenship to a Ukrainian politician.
“In order for someone to obtain Russian citizenship, he must apply for Russian citizenship,” said Peskov.
Earlier, Medvedchuk said that he does not have Russian citizenship and is not interested in the idea of his possible extradition to Russia in exchange for Ukrainian citizens.
Earlier, such a proposal was made by the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
