On October 21st, media professionals from both sides of the strait who participated in the “Cross-Strait Taiwan Youth View Yunnan” came to Xinping Yi and Dai Autonomous County, Yuxi City, Yunnan Province to experience the Huayao Dai culture and experience the rice and fish in the fields.

Huayao Dai is a Dai ethnic group mainly distributed in the two counties of Xinping and Yuanjiang in the upper reaches of the Red River Basin. There are three branches of Daisa, Daika, and Daiya. They are descendants of the ancient Dian kingdom left behind in the hinterland of Ailao Mountain.

It is named for its colorful costumes, brilliant colors, dazzling silver ornaments, and layers of colored brocade belts.

Xinping is known as the "Hometown of Huayao Dai" and is the largest settlement of Huayao Dai in China.
