The new place is sumptuous.

Behind its austere concrete appearances, the new Antipode is a real gold mine for the Courrouze district where it moved in September: a large library, a beautiful concert hall with 1,000 seats, a “club” format. »Which will lend itself perfectly to electro evenings, numerous associative and cultural premises.

In short, a very nice piece of equipment, awaited for many years by the Antipode teams.

While the official inauguration will take place this weekend, the question now arises of the future of the former premises, well known to the inhabitants of Cleunay.

Long undecided, the city has just made known its intentions and will proceed with the demolition of the neighborhood house.

But not immediately.

The old Antipode will be demolished, no doubt to make room for housing

Built in the 1960s to support the development of the Cleunay district, the structure was no longer really suited to welcoming the public, in particular its current music scene.

“The building is so old, it's flushed out.

His rehabilitation would have cost too much, which is what studies have shown us, ”explains Benoît Careil.

The cultural assistant announces that the old Antipode will be demolished, no doubt to make room for housing and socio-cultural spaces for the inhabitants of the district.

The destruction of the building should not take place before "two or three years", according to the elected ecologist.

In the meantime, the former Antipode will host the Ay-Roop circus company, social and solidarity economy structures and undoubtedly a wood workshop.
