A 17-year-old high school student was taken into police custody Wednesday in Lyon after disembarking in the middle of class to beat up another student.

The facts occurred Tuesday at 4.30 p.m. in an establishment in the 5th arrondissement, we learned this Friday from the Sûreté du Rhône.

The teacher, who tried to prevent the intrusion into her classroom, intervened.

But she was pushed around and thrown to the ground.

However, she was not injured, say investigators.

The victim, on the other hand, was severely beaten in the face.

She is 15 years old and prescribed 21 days of ITT.

The attacker must be presented this Friday to the prosecution for an indictment.

He said during his police custody that he came specially "to respond to a provocation" from the other student.
