Abu Dhabi Police warned drivers of the dangers of crossing the traffic light, being distracted by other than the road, and avoiding traffic violations, which in total amount to 51,000 dirhams and 12 traffic points, as a result of crossing the red light in accordance with Law No. (5) of 2020 regarding the seizure of vehicles in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

She warned of the negative consequences that may occur on the road when the driver is distracted and crosses the traffic light, especially to the left, stressing the need to focus on the lane of the road, pointing out that preoccupation with other than the road leads to a sudden deviation of the vehicle due to the use of the phone to browse the Internet and social networking sites or make a call. Or taking pictures, the driver’s attention to talk to his companions, and other distractions and behaviors that may lead to serious consequences and are dangerous in causing traffic accidents as a result of not paying attention to the road while driving. She called on drivers to pay attention while driving and pay attention to pedestrians, road signs and its surroundings, and the instructions of traffic elements and adhere to them, in order to avoid accidents, explaining that the driver doing more than one work at the same time while driving is fraught with danger.

It is worth noting that Law No. (5) of 2020 regarding the seizure of vehicles in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi clarified that the violation of a vehicle exceeding a red light is 1000 dirhams, 12 traffic points, and impounding the vehicle for 30 days, and the financial value of detaining the vehicle is 50 thousand dirhams, in addition to withdrawing the driver's license for the violating driver for a period six months.
