  The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued restrictions on entering the mountain, raising the alert level of volcanic eruptions to level 3, and calling on the public to be alert to volcanic rocks and pyroclastic flows that appear within 2 kilometers of the crater.

  According to Japanese media reports, the Mount Aso eruption caused deaths. The eruption in 1953 caused 6 deaths and more than 90 injuries. The eruption in 1958 caused 12 deaths and the eruption in 1979 caused 3 deaths.
