The UAE and Singapore are discussing cooperation in the fields of safety and food security

The Director General of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, Saeed Al Bahri Al Ameri, discussed with the Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to the UAE, Faswani Kamal Ram Chand, ways of cooperation in the areas of food safety, food security and other areas of common interest.

During the meeting, the strategy and priorities of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority with regard to long-term food security plans were reviewed, as well as global trends for food and agriculture in light of the Covid-19 pandemic, the most important challenges facing food security in the agricultural sector, food provision, and the most important solutions to overcome them.

Vaswani Kamal Ram Chand praised the efforts made by the UAE in facing the Covid-19 pandemic and the remarkable progress in containing the crisis quickly, as the experience of securing food supplies in abundance during the height of the pandemic represents a model for organized and effective work to ensure the smooth flow of food supply chains.

He expressed his aspiration to work closely with the UAE and exchange experiences and ideas to increase local food production capabilities and diversify food resources in a way that supports the aspirations of strengthening the food security system.


He expressed his admiration for the efforts made by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority in the areas of food safety and food and biosecurity and its relentless pursuit towards the sustainability of the agricultural sector, both plant and animal, pointing out that the opportunities for cooperation between the authority and its Singaporean counterparts are promising and expand in various fields, especially the areas of developing quality standards and advanced agricultural technology, in addition to Emerging food technology solutions including synthetic proteins, water and energy solutions that may be suitable for the agricultural sector in Abu Dhabi.

For his part, Saeed Al Bahri Al Ameri confirmed that the UAE has succeeded in dealing efficiently with the Covid-19 pandemic, especially with regard to ensuring food and drug supplies, pointing out that the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority worked under the guidance and follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health Affairs. Presidency, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority, to provide quick solutions to ensure the smooth flow of food and provide all basic needs through supply chains.

He praised the bilateral relations between the Republic of Singapore and the UAE, expressing his admiration for the Singaporean initiative, the 30/30 model, which aims to produce 30 percent of Singapore's food needs locally and sustainably by 2030, in addition to other distinguished initiatives in the areas of food safety.

He stressed that agricultural sustainability requires searching for creative solutions and maximizing the role of research and development to invent solutions to meet the challenges of natural resource scarcity and climate change, areas in which Singapore has made remarkable achievements.
