Women lag behind men in the race for power and career advancement.

The historian and academic Alessandro Barbero discusses the subject with La Stampa.

"It is worth asking whether there are structural differences between men and women that make it more difficult for the latter to be successful in certain fields," he says. And, in order to risk being "unpopular", she asks herself: "Is it possible that on average, women lack the aggressiveness, bravado and self-confidence that help to establish themselves?". But getting out of this pattern could be "just a matter of time", continues the academic. "It will be enough to raise a few more generations of aware young people and the situation will change".

Barbero had led the protest of academics opposed to the Green pass.

"I got vaccinated, albeit with some fear, and I have the Pass", says the historian.

But "the rest of my idea is that I don't like the obligation of a Green Pass to access public transport or, worse, to be able to work and even less I like that employers have to become controllers".

Montaruli: Barbero bold, but from him retrograde words

"The differences between men and women exist and it is trivial to repeat it, but to say that being a woman is equivalent to being insecure is nonsense. Professor Barbero refers, evidently we are facing a retrograde thought on which we invite comparison ". It is the deputy of the Brothers of Italy Augusta Montaruli who replies in this way to the historian. "Barbero - he continues - come and discuss with us the issues of wage, professional and career disparities, work times, family services, parenting support networks, merit, the possibility of combining study with militancy since very young,on the costs of politics in a nation where too few women still work "." We are proud to be the only party that has a woman as a leader and not for gender reasons but for merit, the only concept that is unfortunately missing when we want to give lessons in pink ", underlines Montaruli again.

Picierno 'challenges' Barbero: aggressive?

Talk to me ...

"Ok, if Prof. Barbero wants to meet an aggressive woman, he can talk to me, after I have read her words".

Thus, on Twitter, the Pd MEP Pina Picierno.
