Six young people were arrested on Monday as part of an investigation for thefts with violence in Annecy (Haute-Savoie), reports

During the summer, several tourists had been verbally threatened and sometimes violently assaulted before having their purses or mobile phones stolen.

In total, more than 20 assaults had been recorded by the police.

The six suspects, four teenage girls and two boys, were between 15 and 17 years old at the time of the facts.

They are suspected of being the perpetrators of these thefts and assaults, which mainly occurred between August 3 and 6, according to the Annecy public prosecutor.

A young adult placed in detention

They were arrested at their home in the Annecy region.

“Five of them were placed under judicial supervision after their hearing.

The sixth, a boy who has come of age since the summer, was taken into custody, ”the prosecution said.

An investigating judge was seized following the opening on Tuesday of a judicial investigation for aggravated thefts with violence, threats and intimidation.
