Putin expressed hope for a meeting of the heads of the UN Security Council member states

), then, in principle, it was supported by everyone and it could have been done,” Putin said.

According to him, the implementation of this initiative was postponed due to disputes within the UN Security Council and the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. 

The Russian leader expressed the hope that this meeting, "maybe someday, will take place" and stressed that "it will definitely be beneficial."

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated the need to adapt the UN and the UN Security Council to the new realities.
