The adventure ends well for Michel but it earned him a cold night under the stars and plunged his family into anguish.
The disappearance of this man, gone to mushrooms with his wife in a wood of Poueyferré, very close to Lourdes, was reported to the gendarmes shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday.
But it had already been a good two hours since his wife had seen him for the last time and the family searches had proved unsuccessful.
The disappeared being diabetic and suffering from the hip, the gendarmes hired 11 soldiers and a tracking dog to locate him.
In vain at first since they had to interrupt operations shortly after midnight before reactivating them the next morning with increased staff.
Green motorcycles
The mushroom picker was finally found this Wednesday shortly after 10 am, indicate the gendarmes on their Facebook page, by a patrol of the road safety squadron which had for the occasion, given the configuration of the premises, released its "motorcycles All Terrain ".
Michel is "safe and sound", but he was still entrusted to the firefighters after his night in the woods.
