A few days before the start of the World Climate Conference in Glasgow, the UN Environment Program publishes a report that amounts to a dramatic outcry: Governments worldwide want to promote oil, gas and coal by 2030 on a scale that is diametrically opposed to the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.

In other words: politicians are announcing long-term decarbonisation targets, but in fact the policy of the large emitters in particular is aimed at a strong increase in the promotion of fossil fuels and their combustion.

A farce!

The report names Australia, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the United States, among others.

The lignite producer Germany is also getting its fat off.

How difficult it is to translate climate goals into practical politics is also shown by the negotiation processes in Washington: The Democratic senator from a coal-producing state, whose voters voted for the climate change denier Trump by a large majority, lets President Joe Biden appear.

Many citizens are skeptical, many governments are weak in leadership.

You can explain that politically.

Global warming cannot be limited to the bare minimum.
