Two lifeless bodies were discovered in the fire at their home in Trignac (Loire-Atlantique), firefighters said in a statement on Wednesday.

The facts occurred Tuesday evening in an apartment on the first floor of this town near Saint-Nazaire.

"The firefighters have been alerted to a violent home fire (...) presenting a risk of spread to adjoining homes," said the press release.

The fire was extinguished using three variable flow rate nozzles ”.

Two bodies, whose age, sex and identity have not yet been determined, were found during the excavation phase.

An investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the tragedy.

A young woman has been relocated.
