On Tuesday, midwives in maternity care in Stockholm County alerted about a strained situation, where waiting rooms are converted into examination rooms and vaginal examinations are performed in armchairs.

Today, Lars Rådén (M) participated in Morgonstudion to respond to the criticism.

According to Rådén, the tough working conditions among midwives are due to vacancies, increased sick leave and more extensive waving in connection with the corona pandemic.

Since 1 July, the compensation for each birth has been increased, which will give just over SEK 50 million extra for maternity care.

The council hopes that it will improve the situation at the clinics.

- It is money that goes out to the maternity clinics and which the clinics themselves can use in the way they think is best for developing their business, says Lars Rådén (M).
