As the infection of the new coronavirus spreads again in Russia, President Putin decided to make nine days from the end of October a holiday for businesses and others throughout Russia, and urged the people to vaccinate.

In Russia, the number of people infected with the new coronavirus per day has continued to exceed 30,000 for the past week, and on the 20th, the number of deaths per day was 1028, the highest ever.

Under these circumstances, President Putin signed an executive order on the 20th to set nine days from October 30th to November 7th as holidays for businesses and others throughout Russia to prevent further spread of the infection.

At a government meeting, he said, "To survive this period, there is only one in two, infection or vaccination. Do we have to wait for the infection and serious sequelae?" We strongly called for vaccination, which is only 30%.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Golikova called on local government representatives to ban events and promote telework during holidays.

The public was urged to refrain from traveling to other areas, but local media reported that the number of searches on airline ticket reservation sites increased sharply due to the nine consecutive holidays, and the government said. It is unclear whether the measures will prevent the spread of infection.
