China News Service, October 20. According to Peru’s “Communiqué”, on the 19th local time, there were 775 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in Peru, with a total of 2.191 million confirmed cases.

According to reports, Dante Castro, the director of Peru’s EsSalud data analysis and intelligence department, pointed out that the Peruvian new crown virus infection rate has continued to decline in the past 27 weeks, and there is no sign that there will be a third wave of epidemics in the short term.

Dante Castro explained that in the past two weeks, there have been about 800 new cases every day. Compared with the first wave, this number is very low. At that time, more than 9,000 people were diagnosed with the new crown virus every day.

The reduction in the infection rate is mainly due to the increasing number of people receiving the new crown vaccine and the continued compliance of the people with protective measures.

As of 6 pm on October 19, Peru has received more than 32.42 million doses of the new crown vaccine, and more than 14.28 million people in the country have received two doses of the vaccine, accounting for 51% of Peru's vaccine target population.

Peru’s deaths reached 820 daily at the peak of the epidemic, and an average of 30 new deaths per day were added in the past 25 weeks.

At the same time, the positive rate of testing dropped from 30% at the peak of the epidemic to less than 2%, and the positive rate in the past week was 0.7%.

However, Dante Castro warned that the current new cases are mainly teenagers, and people in this age group have not yet started vaccinating.

To this end, he urged the public to go to vaccination centers and participate in new coronavirus screening tests so that the Ministry of Health can determine the source of infection and carry out corresponding epidemiological surveillance.
