UNEP = United Nations Environment Program calls on countries to make significant cuts, saying that global fossil fuel production is expected to more than double the target for curbing average temperature rise in 2030. increase.

On the 20th, UNEP published a report on the results of analysis with research institutes in each country on the amount of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and natural gas produced in the world.

According to it, production in 2030 is expected to be more than double the level targeted to limit the rise in global average temperature to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

In particular, coal is projected to be about 3.4 times higher than the target.

For this reason, UNEP is urging countries to work now to significantly reduce fossil fuel production.

In addition, the report states that the governments of G20 and 20 major countries have invested about 34 trillion yen in Japanese yen for fossil fuel production since the spread of the new coronavirus infection, and investment in clean energy should be increased. I point out.

UNEP has called for a policy review, stating that "governments need to phase out support for fossil fuel production and put restrictions on exploration and mining."
