Forgotten by his group, an octogenarian hiker sleeps in the mountains

An oversight that could have had unfortunate consequences.

This Monday, a group of around fifty people from the Paris region left the Linge Memorial in Orbey, in the Colmar region (Haut-Rhin), to continue their journey.

Problem: one of the members, aged 82, did not follow the troop.

He found himself alone outside during the night that followed, at an altitude of more than a thousand meters, reports

It was only the next day that a priest, also a member of the group, noticed the absence of the octogenarian.

The emergency services quickly found the victim, hypothermic and disoriented.

According to an investigator, the man might have found refuge in a bunker, in order to escape the very cool night temperatures at these heights.

The octogenarian was evacuated with the gendarmerie helicopter to the Pasteur hospital in Colmar.

His days would not be in danger.
