The trend is slowly but surely towards a higher proportion of women on company boards.

This year's survey shows that 24 percent of board members are women, compared with 18 percent in 2018.

The highest proportion is on Gotland with 27 percent.

In Östergötland, women make up 23 percent and in Sörmland 25 percent.

Seen from 2018, however, the increase has been greatest in Östergötland, which has gone from 16 percent to 23 percent.

"Positive trend"

- What we see is that development is slow, but it is progressing.

In the longer term, we see a bigger step and there we also have a positive trend that is felt, says Emma Meijer, project manager for the 100 list at the East Swedish Chamber of Commerce.

Eleven percent of the 350 companies surveyed have a female CEO.

The proportion of women on the boards is also increasing.

In Östergötland, the proportion of women on the boards of those companies is 40 percent.

For companies with a male CEO, the proportion stays at 20 percent.

The corresponding figures for Gotland are 50 and 26 percent, respectively.
