“We are not asking countries to choose between the United States and China, nor are we seeking to contain and suppress China,” Blinken said at a joint news conference in Quito with Ecuadorian Foreign and Migration Minister Mauricio Montalvo.
He added that the United States is asking its partners to carefully study the trade deals proposed by the PRC.
Earlier, Anthony Blinken and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell discussed the state of affairs in Afghanistan, Russia and China at a meeting in Washington.
