The 211 member national federations will meet by videoconference, "to discuss the future of football after having been informed in detail of the consultation process underway on the subject," says Fifa.

The governing body of world football, which launched from May 2021 a feasibility study on the holding of the World Cup every two years, "listens to all opinions in an inclusive and exhaustive consultation process", assures its president Gianni Infantino , cited in the press release.

The summit will "aim to reach an agreement" on the international calendar, and the distribution of international windows and periods when players are available to their clubs, ensures Fifa.

The biennial World Cup, pushed by Fifa, has attracted many oppositions among the players, who denounce the increase in the frequency of matches;

clubs, who fear that they will have less of their players available;

or supporters, who fear overused competition.
