On October 18, local time, according to Reuters, about 400 koalas will be vaccinated at a wildlife hospital in eastern Australia to participate in a trial to prevent chlamydia infection and improve the survival rate of koalas.

Researchers implanted microchips for each vaccinated koala, and then released it into the field to track and evaluate the effects of the vaccination.

In recent years, due to multiple factors such as habitat destruction, climate change, and chlamydia infection, the number of Australian koalas has decreased significantly.
