Russia said that the proposal of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to abandon the name "Great Patriotic War" defiles the memory of the participants in these events.

This point of view, in particular, was expressed by the first deputy head of the international committee of the Federation Council Vladimir Dzhabarov.

“How much Ukraine was proud of its heroes before, how many heroes there were from the Soviet Union, how many partisans there were… And they defiled the memory of these people with such things.

This is foam, it will come off anyway, ”the senator said in an interview with RT.

He expressed confidence that sooner or later "the Ukrainian people will get rid of such power" and will elect worthy people to the role of leaders of the state.

“The president will be a completely different person who will be a patriot of Ukraine.

They just scoff at their history, it always ends very sadly for those who are trying to remake history, ”said Dzhabarov.

Sergei Tsekov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs from the Republic of Crimea, noted that power in Ukraine is in the hands of people who are completely unprepared for state activities.

“People who, for some reason, are angry with the Soviet past, with Russia, when these people get some kind of power in their hands, they do just terrible things.

In this country, people who have gained power feel at ease.

They realized that they can do whatever they want, ”Tsekov said in an interview with RT.

Earlier, the apparatus of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) published a dictionary of names and terms.

The document proposes to abandon the use of the name "Great Patriotic War".

The term is listed in the column "Fake / cliché".

Instead, it is proposed to use the names "World War II" and "Soviet-German war".

In addition, the NSDC proposes to abandon the use of concepts such as "Russian world", "Crimean bridge", "Baltic" and others.

The first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Viktor Vodolatsky believes that the events taking place in the country should be assessed by the international community.

According to him, the Ukrainian authorities are trying by any means to "tear Ukraine away from its historical memory."

“They simply do not understand one thing: when a country, a people lose their historical memory, they expose themselves to destruction, annihilation.

Such actions that have been taking place in recent years - they destroy everything good, good that was in Ukraine, ”said the deputy.

Vodolatsky suggested that "every person living in the post-Soviet space is interested in looking into the eyes of those people who betrayed the memory of their fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers."

Let us remind you that in Ukraine since 2015 there has been a law “On the condemnation of the communist and national-socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and the prohibition of the propaganda of their symbols”.

As part of the prosecution under the relevant articles, the punishment in Ukraine is mainly directed at citizens with pro-Soviet views, as well as Ukrainians demonstrating the symbols of the USSR on May 9.

In August 2021, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued an appeal to the Ukrainian authorities to end the "war on memory" about the Great Patriotic War.

The ministry's statement concerned the situation that arose around the planned trip of Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev to Kharkiv.

The senator intended to take part in the celebrations dedicated to the Day of the liberation of the city from the Nazi invaders on August 23.

The official representative of the department, Maria Zakharova, said that the Russian parliamentarian was denied entry to Ukraine "in a very boorish and blasphemous manner inherent in Ukrainian diplomacy in recent years."

At the same time, Zakharova noted that there are still people in Ukraine who "have preserved moral guidelines and honor the memory of Soviet soldiers."

According to the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was only thanks to them that solemn events were held in the Kharkiv region to perpetuate the memory of those who fought against the Nazi invaders.

“We call on the Ukrainian authorities to end the war with the memory of the real heroes of the Great Patriotic War and with their descendants,” she said.
