- During the pandemic, we have focused on the oldest, now it is about protecting the very youngest, children under six months, who can be affected extra hard by this virus, says infection control doctor Johan Nöjd in a press release.

The Uppsala Region recommends keeping children under six months at home as much as possible.

Older siblings who go to preschool are also recommended to stay at home.

In addition, families with young children are encouraged to avoid social contexts where they meet other small children, such as opening preschool.

- Families with small children should continue to behave as during the covid 19 pandemic: socialize with the closest circle, keep their distance when possible, wash their hands often and sneeze in the armpit.

Unlike during the covid-19 pandemic, there is no recommendation to contact healthcare to get tested.

Those who will be tested are the children who are very seriously ill.

- If you are worried and wondering if it could be RS virus, you should contact 1177 Vårdguiden by phone and absolutely do not go directly to a reception, says Johan Nöjd.
