Two children under the age of ten and an elderly woman are still being cared for in hospital after a man subjected them to a serious violent crime in a community in Lycksele on Monday.

The man, who is in his 50s, is said to have a close relationship with those involved.

He has been arrested on suspicion of three counts of attempted murder.

The man denies the crime, otherwise the police and prosecutors are silent about the case.

In society, the atmosphere on Tuesday morning is described as shocking.

- Many are very taken, says Kerstin Olla Grahn, acting mayor of Lycksele, in SVT's Morgonstudion.

- Here, children under the age of ten are involved, so it is clear that it creates a lot of drama.

There are many who feel affected, she says.

"The great work begins"

The municipality organized a crisis management group on Monday morning to handle the incident.

Among other things, great focus will be placed on the students who return to schools today.

- This is where the big work begins, when classmates of these children return to school.

Our educators have a huge job ahead of them, says Kerstin Olla Grahn.
