China News Service, October 19. According to Singapore’s Lianhe Zaobao, Singapore has opened more places for foreign maids to enter, but due to public health considerations, it is still necessary to control the number of people, and priority will be given to families with nursing needs.

On October 18, local time, Singapore's Ministry of Education and Ministry of Manpower Minister Yan Xiaofang posted on Facebook that some employers may not be able to successfully obtain entry approval for maids in a short period of time due to the large number of entry applications.

Yan Xiaofang said that there will be more places for entry applications in the next few weeks, and these employers can log on to the platform again to check.

She said: "As the situation of the new crown epidemic improves, we will again negotiate the entry limit."

From October 15th, local time, the Ministry of Manpower of Singapore resumed accepting applications for entry of foreign maids from higher-risk countries or regions.

If the maids have completed the new crown vaccination, employers and intermediaries can apply for them to enter Singapore from November 1 through the SafeTravel platform of the Immigration and Checkpoints Bureau.

If there is an urgent need to hire maids, the Singaporean public can consider the scheme of safe introduction of maids that the Singapore Labor Intermediary Association began piloting in mid-July this year.

The plan requires maids to stay in their country’s entry facility for multiple rounds of COVID-19 testing 14 days before coming to Singapore, and still have to comply with Singapore’s existing epidemic prevention measures after entry.

Yan Xiaofang said that after Singapore's Ministry of Manpower has increased the number of maids in the country this time, it hopes to help more families meet the needs of nursing care.
