Thomas Markle on Monday begged his daughter Meghan and son-in-law Prince Harry to let him see his grandchildren, pleading for reconciliation while accusing them of only caring about money, in an interview with the channel ITV television.

"We should both grow up a bit, talk to each other, reconcile, for the sake of the children and for ourselves," Thomas Markle, 77, told Good morning Britain from Mexico.

Thomas Markle never met his grandchildren

Of his grandchildren Archie, 2, and Lilibet, 4 months, Thomas Markle said "they have two loving families, and their great-grandmother is the Queen of England". "They will grow up and they will want to know more about them," added the former lighting designer for American television, who lives in Rosarito, Mexico. Meghan Markle walked away from her father before her wedding in May 2018, which he was unable to attend due to health issues. He had previously posed for paid paparazzi photos, which the couple had displeased with. Thomas Markle has never met Prince Harry, nor his grandchildren.

Harry, 37, and Meghan, 40, have also taken their distance from the British royal family and have been living in California with their children since March 2020.

"Since she started with Harry, she has changed," her father lamented.

He explained that Meghan wanted him to "stop talking" to his half-siblings, but that he "couldn't".

He also criticized the couple, who took their financial independence from the royal family and since signed several contracts for documentaries or podcasts, of "only worrying about money".
