The facts took place south of the national road 16, east of Gossi, this Monday, October 18, 2021. During a reconnaissance mission in a wooded area, where the presence of armed terrorist groups is confirmed,

a platoon de Barkhane

who was accompanying a Malian unit detected two individuals on motorbikes.

At the sight of the soldiers, indicates the staff of the armies, the two suspects abandoned the machine and fled.

An assault rifle, ammunition and a military bag are then discovered near the vehicle.

The staff adds that on four occasions, the French soldiers fired warning shots, until one of the two individuals was in their sights.

The latter then turned sharply causing a neutralization fire.

The deceased is a woman, this had never happened.

The inhabitants of the nearest village were therefore called to try to clarify his identity, without success.

The Barkhane force initiated an investigation and, notably, the staff made the information public, with the aim, it is said in Paris, to cut short any form of disinformation.
