The Israeli navy concluded a surprise maneuvers that it launched on Monday in all its sectors in the Mediterranean and the Red Sea.

The Israeli army said that these exercises were scheduled as part of the annual maneuvers, and came to test the readiness of the naval vessels to deal with emergency situations on the fronts of Lebanon and Gaza, and in the Red Sea.

The Israeli army attaches importance to the navy in efforts to protect economic interests in the Mediterranean, especially the Israeli natural gas platforms, which it fears will be a target in any future confrontation with Hezbollah in Lebanon, or the Palestinian factions in Gaza.

Director of Al-Jazeera office in Ramallah, Walid Al-Omari, said that the Israeli naval maneuvers simulate possibilities such as the exposure of marine gas installations to attacks, or the possibility of carrying out operations against Israeli naval vessels in different regions.

These maneuvers came in conjunction with other exercises conducted by the Israeli Air Force, with the participation of 7 countries.

The Israeli army said that the "Blue Flag" air maneuvers - which kicked off on Sunday from the Ovda base (south) and last about two weeks - are aimed at "strengthening strategic and international cooperation."

The United States, Germany, Italy, Britain, France, India and Greece are participating in the exercises.

Walid al-Omari pointed out that the various military maneuvers come in the context of what Israel calls the “battle between wars,” which it says it has been conducting since 2015, as it conducts targeted operations against targets in the heart of Syria or escalates from time to time against Gaza or Lebanon, as well as hitting Iranian targets. Whether at sea or inside Iran under cover of secrecy.
