Last year, 1.9 million Swedes were subjected to attempted ID theft and just over 200,000 had their identity hijacked.

In almost 75 percent of the cases, contact was made with the victims via e-mail.

It shows a survey done by Kantar Sifo.

SVT's documentary series uses four hackers to attack individuals and companies with the aim of showing how vulnerable we are in our connected society.

- We work as professional hackers, but are good.

We intrude on IT systems at companies on their order, to find weaknesses that they can then fix, says Linus Kvarnhammar.

Fake login pages - common way to get passwords

20 people were invited to SVT with information that they would be interviewed and participate in a digital experiment.

Participants had to go to a website to fill out a questionnaire.

There, they could register either by creating a new account or via their login on, for example, Facebook or Google.

But the website was fake and the hackers got hold of everyone's username and password.

"I have nothing to hide"

- I feel that I am naive when it comes to passwords.

I'm an ordinary person, have an ordinary name, who would give in to me?

I have nothing to hide, says participant Frida Nilsson in the documentary.

The hackers tried many approaches to access the participants' other accounts, in some cases it was enough to use the same password they had just obtained, in other cases they had to look for additional email addresses and leaked passwords on the internet.

"I have your passport, I have your everything!"

On Frida Nilsson's accounts, they found, among other things, a picture of her passport, which could, for example, be used in ID hijacking and, by extension, fraud.

- Organized crime has moved to the internet, so by getting your passport I can go out and buy ten Iphone and Playstation 5. And it is very difficult to say that it was not you, because I have your passport, your everything !

says hacker David Jacoby.

Do you want to know more about what the hackers can access and what they found more on Frida's accounts?
