In southern Sweden, high electricity prices are expected this winter and there is concern among companies about how the supply of electricity will affect the possibility of investments at the end of the country.

However, Minister of Energy Anders Ygeman (S) is not worried about the future.

- I'm not worried.

We work together with the business community to increase electricity production and transmission capacity, he says.

Ygeman emphasizes that Sweden exported large amounts of electricity last year and that there is a high capacity in northern Sweden.

- But we have problems with the effect situation in southern Sweden.

We need more local electricity production and more transmission capacity between southern and northern Sweden, says Anders Ygeman.

Wants to reward municipalities for wind power

In addition to investments in the electricity grid, Anders Ygeman points out offshore wind power as part of the solution.

- We ensure that more energy production is built and we invest extra heavily in southern Sweden.

We have applications for offshore wind power corresponding to three times Sweden's electricity production.

But many municipalities today say no to such establishments.

The government wants to remedy this reluctance by making it more attractive for municipalities to allow wind power construction.

- I want to open up so that some of the money generated in wind power projects can stay in the municipality and make it easier in the local community, says Ygeman.
