Around a galaxy fictitious and "clean" companies linked to the families of the 'Ndrangheta dei Delfino and Pieromalli. An undisputed disdain for spilling highly contaminating waste, so much so as to record pollution in agricultural land of 6 thousand percent.

This is the picture that emerges from the "Malapigna" operation conducted by the Forest Carabinieri with the coordination of the Reggio Calabria prosecutor Giovanni Bombardieri, the adjunct Gaetano Paci and the deputies of the DDA Giulia Pantano and Paola D'Ambrosio.

The ordinances

29 the precautionary custody orders, signed by the Gip Vincenza Bellini: top members of the mafia family but also entrepreneurs, lawyers, consultants, accountants and environmental engineers of reference of the Piromalli gang ended up in prison. 5 companies seized, in the provinces of Reggio Calabria, Catanzaro, Cosenza, Ravenna, Monza Brianza, Brescia and Bergamo.

In addition to the mafia association, the DDA of Reggio Calabria also challenged the suspects for the crime of environmental disaster.

Involved former Forza Italia parliamentarian Giancarlo Pittelli

There is also the lawyer and former Forza Italia parliamentarian Giancarlo Pittelli among the recipients of the precautionary custody order issued by the Gip Bellini. Pittelli is already a defendant in the maxi “Rinascita-Scott” trial of the DDA of Catanzaro.

His role according to the DDA

As for the lawyer Giancarlo Pittelli, arrested for external competition, according to the DDA he was a "politician, professional, fixer of reference having established a stable" synallagmatic "relationship with the 'Ndrangheta. the prosecutors, was "characterized by persistent and mutual availability".

Pittelli would have guaranteed "his general availability towards the association to solve the various problems of the members, exploiting the enormous potential deriving from the relations of the same with important exponents of the institutions and the public administration". According to the investigators, in fact, the former Senator Pittelli had "unlimited possibilities of access to confidential information and preferential treatment". For this reason "he conveyed information inside and outside the prison among the leaders of the Piromalli clan held in prison under article 41 bis". The bosses who would have benefited from the relationship with Pittelli are Giuseppe Piromalli known as "Facciazza" and his son Antonio Piromalli, regent of the clan.

Accusation of external competition

As in the "Rinascita-Scott" trial, also in the "Malapigna" operation the accusation against the former Forza Italia senator is external competition in the mafia association.

The precautionary custody order in prison was served on the lawyer in his home where Pittelli was under house arrest.

After the formalities, the lawyer and former parliamentarian will be accompanied to the prison.
