In Mullsjö, the City Council recently said no to nine 250 meter high wind turbines in Margareteholm.

However, the company has a permit to build 16 lower plants.

- It is unusual, I do not know of any case where they went further and built the lower plants, says Tomas Hallberg, responsible for permit issues at Swedish wind energy, which is an interest organization for the Swedish wind power industry.

In the clip above, Tomas Hallberg tells how they want to change the legislation regarding warning lights for flights at Swedish wind turbines.

Poor profitability for lower wind turbines

The reason why wind power companies choose not to build the lower plants they have a permit for is that it will be significantly less profitable financially.

The higher modern plants are more efficient and the investment cost is lower when you build fewer plants.

The winds higher up are also stronger and smoother, which benefits electricity production.

At present, there are approximately 4,000 wind turbines in Sweden.

To meet the target of 100 TWh of new wind power, approximately 4,000 more plants will need to be built by 2040.

An investigation is underway that reviews the municipal veto, it is currently out for consultation with the relevant bodies.

Even if there are changes in the municipal veto in the future, the municipalities will continue to have a great influence on wind power establishments, according to the proposal.
