"NATO's policy towards Russia remains consistent, with the alliance stepping up (measures of) containment and defense in response to Russia's aggressive actions," Price said.

He added that at the same time the alliance "leaves the door open" for dialogue with Russia.

On October 18, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said earlier that the activities of the military communications mission and the NATO information bureau in Moscow would be suspended.

He also said that Russia is suspending the work of the Russian permanent mission to NATO.

This happened after NATO decided to expel eight members of the Russian mission to the alliance, as well as to reduce two more positions.

At the same time, Russia offered NATO to agree on de-escalation measures, including a mutual reduction in military activity along the Russian borders of Russia and the countries of the alliance.
