Between 2014 and the first half of 2020, 1,223 wind turbines in Sweden were stopped by the municipal veto, corresponding to 21 percent of the applications.

A national inquiry is out for consultation.

It proposes that the municipal veto remain, but that the municipalities should previously have the opportunity to say no to establishments.

Awaiting wind farm plan

In Hedemora, some wind power is already produced through seven wind turbines.

But additional companies that want to establish themselves in the municipality have to bid their time.

Until the municipality has a wind farm plan in place, no more wind power plans will be approved.

In the clip, you hear municipal councilor Lillemor Gunnarsson (C) tell how the municipality views future wind power establishments in the municipality.
