He assured that in the coming weeks, the EU member states will continue to discuss this topic.

“On the table there are proposals to introduce new sanctions against Belarus, and very sensitive ones,” the German Foreign Minister added.

According to him, the European Union will continue to put pressure on airlines that are engaged in the delivery of migrants and refugees to Minsk.

Last week, the European Parliament passed by a majority vote a resolution calling on EU countries to increase economic sanctions against individuals and legal entities in Belarus.

President of the republic Alexander Lukashenko called the situation with migrants on the border of Belarus "a humanitarian catastrophe."
