Ten thousand jobs created over the next five years across Europe to build the “metaverse”.
A global digital platform that must fit into physical life, thanks to virtual and augmented reality.
According to the Facebook press release, "
by increasing the dimension of online presence, interacting virtually will be closer to the experience of in-person interaction
" in the fields of entertainment as well as professional life.
Nerve center in Europe
Facebook, which owns the virtual reality hardware group Oculus, intends to make Europe the nerve center for the construction of this “metaverse”.
These 10,000 highly qualified jobs will be attached to the European headquarters in Dublin.
But the majority of positions will be available by telecommuting, in accordance with Facebook's new policy.
Vague
The announcement remains unclear on the number of permanent positions in Dublin or their title.
But the press release comes after a string of disastrous press headlines: between a fine for non-compliance with the data protection of its users and the testimony of a whistleblower on the danger of the group's networks on its youngest users .
