Good evening,

I still remember my first transatlantic flight very well, even if it was a long time ago.

Because the aircraft was a DC-10, a three-jet, technically more fascinating and elegant than a classic four-jet

like a Boeing 747 jumbo, at least that's what I thought. And: You were allowed to take photos in the cockpit during the flight - on the return flight. The slides of the sunrise somewhere shortly before the European mainland can still be found somewhere - in the basement. As you can see, we're talking about an experience that dates back decades. The aircraft type was revised at some point. It was used as a freighter to an MD-11, most recently in the "F" version. Lufthansa has now completed the last flight with this aircraft. Reason enough for our airport specialist Jochen Remmert to describe and comment on the event. The good news is:

the new planes are much quieter.

And they are needed, because at least the freight business at the airport is doing better than it was before the Corona crisis.

  • Follow I follow

Which brings us back to Corona.

Do you now also know a friend or colleague who has corona despite being fully vaccinated?

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) provides figures on this in its weekly Covid-19 management report.

More than

67,500 vaccination breakthroughs have been identified

for the entire federal territory since March

been. What often surprises those affected is classified by the authors of the management report as “expected”. Since, in general, more and more people are vaccinated, but at the same time the virus is spreading more, the likelihood of "coming into contact with the virus as a fully vaccinated person" increases, according to the report. So there is still a need for mindfulness. Our colleague Marie Lisa Kehler has also found out that the Hessian general practitioners' practices are again seeing more patients with normal cold symptoms.

In this respect, only tests will always be able to provide certainty in future as to whether it is corona or a classic cold.

Meanwhile, there is a pop in the schoolyards.

Hardly a child's hand has not yet tinkered with those toys that, under names like “Pop it” (from English “pop”) or “Plopper”, cast a spell over entire age groups - from three-year-olds to children who have just outgrown primary school.

The toy, which is also reminiscent of elastic shapes for freezing ice cubes, is simple.

It consists of two or more dozen fields that you can press in with your fingers. Then they arch to the other side with a pop sound. If all fields are pressed, it goes back in the opposite direction. Even hyperactive children are silent for astonishing periods of time, so “Pop its” has a good reputation with parents, although it is made of silicone and therefore not close to nature. Daniel Meuren investigated the phenomenon.

And in addition

, a neighbor, as a member of the volunteer fire brigade, was able to provide help in the event of a kitchen fire in Frankfurt on Sunday morning before the alarmed fire brigade arrived;

the Berlin planner of the Kätcheslachpark on the Riedberg receives the "Oskar Garden 2021".

It is said that he created innovative greenery in a variety of ways;

the fire brigade had to extinguish a fire again in an apartment building in Rüsselsheim.

Have a good new week,
