Representatives of fraternal colleges, teachers, alumni, teachers in aid to Tibet, and retired representatives gathered in Lhasa to offer a sincere blessing to Tibet University.
Tibet University is a comprehensive university affiliated to the Tibet Autonomous Region. Over the past 70 years, the school has explored a successful way to establish modern higher education in special plateau border ethnic regions, and has cultivated more than 80,000 specialized talents at all levels and various types. The economic construction and social development of Tibet and Southwest China provide important intellectual support, becoming an important base for Tibet's innovative talent training, scientific research and achievement transformation, high-level decision-making consultation, and national cultural inheritance and innovation, and an important window for opening up and exchanges.
On the morning of the 16th, the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Tibet University was held at the University Students’ Innovation and Entrepreneurship Activity Center on the Najin Campus.
At the celebration ceremony, Jin Yongbing, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and President of Tibet University, reviewed the history of Tibet University’s establishment. Tibet was peacefully liberated in 1951. At that time, the Republic’s sun was shining on the snowy land. The cadre training class started from a tent school, and Yanlu Lanyu opened a long history of construction and development. After 70 years, Tibet University has developed into a modern, high-level university.
Jin Yongbing said at the celebration meeting that no matter how the times change, the value contribution of a border ethnic minority university cannot be separated from its focus on strategy and service development.
Based on the country's special strategic positioning for Tibet, we have made special contributions in different historical periods of Tibet.
Jin Yongbing introduced at the celebration meeting that Tibet’s higher education should be used as a window for opening up and exchanges, serving the country’s “One Belt, One Road” and South Asian corridors, and integrating into the scientific research development of global universities, especially focusing on the third pole of the earth, Asian water towers, etc. Tibet’s new name card, give full play to its local advantages, conduct in-depth research on plateau disciplines of global concern, profoundly reveal the mechanism of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau environment and climate change, and strive to build a world-class plateau scientific research base.
On the day of the event, a tea party for alumni of “One Tibetan Master, One Tibetan Great Love”, a symposium on the high-quality development of colleges and universities jointly established by ministries and provinces was held at the same time, and counterpart support for the 2021 regular meeting of Tibet University and the cultural evening party for the 70th anniversary of Tibet University.
The teachers, students and staff of the school presented their birthday wishes to Tibet University in various forms.
