Most of the snow found in the opened hill was created in December and January last year.

The snow has been excavated and ended up under non-woven fabric while waiting for the start of the autumn season.

- We have saved snow so it is enough for 50 meters wide and one meter deep on a surface that is just over 1500 meters long, says Johan Gunnarstedt.

According to him, that amount of snow would be enough to open two slopes, but the opening of another slope seems to have to wait until next Saturday.

- It mainly depends on whether it is cold or not, as it looks now, the forecast has become a little warmer, but if the cold continues, it is Saturday that applies, he says.

Got to postpone the premiere - one day

Actually, Kåbdali's ski resort had thought that the premiere would take place on Saturday, but the ski resort's winch machine had stopped just in time for the premiere, but after ordering a new machine that arrived and was installed, the premiere could start the next day, on Sunday.

- If we had opened on Saturday, we would have had more skiers on the slopes than the 100 people who are now here, says Johan Gunnarstedt.

Early season attracts national team skiers

In addition to the autumn season being extended by just over three weeks when you save snow, there is also a snow guarantee, which makes it easier for professional skiers, such as national team skiers, to book training camps for the upcoming competition season.

- It is nice for the different teams to know that they have a guaranteed supply of snow and that it is booked in the calendar.

When we can guarantee that there is snow, they do not have to worry about things changing based on the snow supply, says Johan Gunnarstedt.
