SVT Nyheter Skåne has previously reported on how moisture and mold completely destroyed an apartment in Rosengård, an article that was read over 300,000 times.

The tenant had been away for ten months and was met by black mold that covered walls and ceilings when he returned home.

- It was a big shock.

I did not understand what happened in the apartment.

Then I called the landlord directly and reported the damage, says the tenant Hashem Ahmed Mohamed Ali.

Lost the apartment

He lost his lease after a ruling by the rent tribunal.

Now the mold is gone and the apartment is renovated.

And Hashem Ahmed Mohamed Ali has been allowed to move back - at least temporarily.

- The tenant's lawyer has appealed the rent tribunal's decision, so he got the keys back.

He can stay in the apartment until the final verdict comes from the Court of Appeal, says Jenny Tebäck, communications manager at Rosengård fastigheter.

"Never travel again"

Hashem Ahmed Mohamed Ali can see no explanation for the apartment being so badly damaged by mold during his absence.

- I will never travel away again, he says about his own responsibility.

He now hopes that the higher court will rule in his favor so that he can keep the apartment permanently.

The verdict will come in early November.

In the video you can see what the apartment looked like when Hashem returned - and what it looks like today.
