hospital on Sunday morning
where he was admitted for an infection, said the head of the medical team that treated him.
"President Clinton was released today from UC Irvine Medical Center," said Dr.
Alpesh N. Amin
, in remarks in a statement posted by Clinton's spokesman on Twitter.
Live images from the CNN network showed the former president
leaving the facilities with a mask and accompanied by his wife, Hillary
, raising his thumb, after spending five nights in hospital.
"His fever and white blood cell count have returned to normal and he will return home to New York to finish his antibiotic treatment," added Amin.
According to US media reports, Clinton had a urinary tract infection that spread to the bloodstream, causing
sepsis
.
The former president was in California for
an event related to his founding
when he felt tired.
He went to the hospital where it was ruled out that he had covid-19 or heart problems.
