Al-Tayeb presents Al-Sisi with a unique copy of the Al-Azhar Quran
Today, Dr. Ahmed El-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, presented Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, a unique copy of the Al-Azhar Quran, during the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday at the Al-Manara Center for International Conferences in the Fifth Settlement.
According to Al-Masry Al-Youm, work on this Noble Qur’an took nearly twenty years, in which geometric decorations inspired by precious Qur’anic manuscripts were used.
Which dates back to the Ilkhanid and Mamluk periods, with an approach to the colors used in gilding and decoration.
This edition was printed using the finest quality paper made of pure cotton and acid-free to preserve the luster of gold and colors for a long time. The cover of the Qur’an was prepared from pure, vegetable-tanned cowhide, with embossing of colors and gold, and a deep heat engraving simulating the Mamluk geometric patterns.
This Noble Qur’an was typeset using King Fouad’s font, which was automatically renewed by a special program on the computer after the help of skilled calligraphers in the Naskhi script, adopting what was written by the calligrapher Muhammad Jaafar Bey, who died in 1916 AD, who set the cursive base for the Amiri printing house, which represents the most innovative calligraphic rule. The Islamic world witnessed it, and it was the first authentic Qur’an printed with separate metal letters in the Survey Department in the year 1342 AH - 1924 AD, until it was very beautiful.
